Responsibilities
Responsible for support and maintenance of 24x7x365 mission critical systems.
Architect, install, and maintain production systems including Enterprise (database) servers and storage.
Coordinate with other technical staff to implement systems and software into the production environment.
Responsible for project management; documenting configurations and training of the operations staff
Performance monitoring and capacity planning
Acquire understanding of [Client] applications and operational environment
Interface with infrastructure engineering, database team, network security operations, NOC command center, customer service organizations, and vendors
Provide status reports to management.
Assisting in the completion of outage reports when necessary
Perform corrective actions to address all problems affecting the availability of the service architecture
Interface and communicate status of projects with Operations Managers, Lead System Admins, and appropriate Production departments
Available for on-call and escalation support 24X7 via pager/cell phone
Available to work bi-weekly maintenance windows as required.
Requirements
BS degree in Computer Science or related field.
10 years of Unix system administration with at least 3 in supporting enterprise servers and storage.
Experience with AIX, EMC, Network Appliance, Veritas Netbackup, HA implementations, Oracle, and Disaster Recovery procedures is a huge plus.
Ideal candidate would be motivated and able to assume team lead role when needed.
Able to work independently and come up to speed quickly on new technologies
A team player who exhibits good communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
