Responsibilities

  • Responsible for support and maintenance of 24x7x365 mission critical systems.
  • Architect, install, and maintain production systems including Enterprise (database) servers and storage.
  • Coordinate with other technical staff to implement systems and software into the production environment.
  • Responsible for project management; documenting configurations and training of the operations staff
  • Performance monitoring and capacity planning
  • Acquire understanding of [Client] applications and operational environment
  • Interface with infrastructure engineering, database team, network security operations, NOC command center, customer service organizations, and vendors
  • Provide status reports to management.
  • Assisting in the completion of outage reports when necessary
  • Perform corrective actions to address all problems affecting the availability of the service architecture
  • Interface and communicate status of projects with Operations Managers, Lead System Admins, and appropriate Production departments
  • Available for on-call and escalation support 24X7 via pager/cell phone
  • Available to work bi-weekly maintenance windows as required.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 10 years of Unix system administration with at least 3 in supporting enterprise servers and storage.
  • Experience with AIX, EMC, Network Appliance, Veritas Netbackup, HA implementations, Oracle, and Disaster Recovery procedures is a huge plus.
  • Ideal candidate would be motivated and able to assume team lead role when needed.
  • Able to work independently and come up to speed quickly on new technologies
  • A team player who exhibits good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
